Evaluation for my college magazine.
Audience feedback : what went well ?
I received some positive feedback from my classmates, a few mentioned how they liked the photo I had used for my cover because it was of high quality which made it look professional. Other students in my class mentioned how they thought my cover had everything necessary for the reader to know and it wasn't too busy.
Self- evaluation: what went well ?
Personally the best part of making the cover was taking the photos , Iused my phone to do this and surprisingly the pictures came out good.i used a classmate as my model and when i put the pictures on the computer i saw that his facial expressions and what he was doing were very clear. for the magazine i added a barcode , cover lines , masthead , puff and price of the issue... this was a good thing because professional magazines in stores have this. in class i was taught how to use photoshop and so there i used my skills ,edited and made my masthead there.i like how i made my college magazine contents page . the contents page was easier to do because i was more familiar with the tools and knew what i had to do .my main image in my contents is a friend reading a book , i got him to do this activity because its educational and relates to college activities .
key points for development ?
if i were to do my college magazine again i would use a DSLR camera because this way my pictures will look even better, looking through my phone i found some pictures that are slightly pixelated. i should also add more coverlids to fill up my cover a bit more and add more images in my contents page so it looks more interesting .

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music magazine develops and challenges real media products in many ways. For my front cover of my magazine I decided to keep the layout and design very simple, with a consistent font type, colour scheme and overall house style. This is very similar to other magazines that also follow the same conventions. I also decided to keep the front cover plain, with only few cover lines because I want the main focus on the cover to be the artist. I kept the masthead simple by using one colour and my layout compliments my picture. I have not used a popular font; my chosen font is classic and very olden days, I used a DSLR camera to get some high quality shots and used one of the pictures for my front magazine cover; this is what someone working in the magazine industry would have done. I used a medium shot as this has always been a popular shot type in most magazines. This allows all the attention to be on the artist, as we can see her face clearly which would make her more recognisable to my target audience/ consumers. This is similar to the NME magazine which I analysed for a case study. Rihanna’s cover has also been photographed medium shot and she too has a serious face, looking directly at the camera. My contents page has more than one image this is so the readers have an idea of what will be featured in my magazine, whereas the NME contents page has only one image , this tends to be of a music artist featured in the magazine. Finally my double page spread I can say is challenging to the NME one that I have used to compare because I used two different images of the artist; with different shots, wardrobe and looks. The dps in the NME use one main image mostly and the second page for the article. The layout I have used is similar to an NME one and I’ve used one main quote that the artist says to drag the reader’s attention.

2)How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In my magazine race doesn’t matter for me because I’m not targeting anyone in particular. The age of the people I want to buy my magazine would be from 14 to older adults because my music will be mainly R&B and indie and older above 25 adults will not enjoy this kind of music. I have more females in my magazine only because it’s easier for me to relate to them. The audience are 14 + teenage school girls and 18 +students and 21+ people in work with careers. My magazine will appeal to teenagers because of the headphone competition so at least they feel like they’re in for something. The magazine will also appeal to adults because I have put in tours and younger aged females are unable to attend these, also older females enjoy a little adventure.
3)What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4)Who would be the audience for your media product?
My target audience are young teenagers they'll be indie rock and pop music lovers.Gender wouldn't really matter but I would say females will probably prefer the magazine seeing as it’s about female artists. Ethnicity wouldn't matter because everyone has different music taste regardless of where they're from.

My magazine will be distributed through social media such as YouTube adverts, this will work because my magazine will only come up if the audience is about to watch an indie rock song or R&B . My magazine will be distributed in the UK only. My magazine will be published through EMAP, they connect professional communities and inspire them to know, to grow, progress and win. Map delivers this through senior networking events; news and analysis.

5) how did you attract / dress your audience ?
I received feedback from the audience that have watched my proposal some of the audience didn't like that name " vanish " because they didn't understand it properly so I explained it and kept it because I felt it had a lot of meaning behind it .in my magazine photography was one of my strongest points. I didn't use only one angle and shot I insured I used a wide range of looks.

6)What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I had to set up a blog and this is where I put my coursework. Most of my work is types up on blogger. I also used Prezie to put my presentation, this made everything clear .Prezie is very easy and creative. I used YouTube to upload a video presentation of me this was very fun and I enjoyed it. Finally I used a DSLR camera to take all the pictures for my magazine because the quality is very good.
7) looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at my preliminary task I feel that I'm better at using photoshop , my knowledge has expanded from when I first started media this is because I now know how to edit like a professional. I also know how to more around and use tools correctly.the same goes for IN design iv learn more techniques and how to download fonts.I have also learn how to make my work look like a real professional magazine. While creating my college magazine I went into a lot of depth researching magazines and I realised this has benefited me a lot. Overall my knowledge about technologies has improved I feel that I have developed more skills and techniques to create a profession looking magazine.

Photography Induction
During class we had a photography induction with Scott, he taught us how to use the equipment.
Camera:
Manual focus- In the field of photography, a manual focus camera is one in which the user has to adjust the focus of the lens by hand.
Auto focus: This is when the camera lens automatically obtains focus on the subject. But this can also mean the difference between a sharp photo and a blurry one.
Fine focus: The camera will make a kind of bleeping noise, the means that it is set up and ready to take the shot.
Lights:
In photography lights are very important.Studio flash heads have several
advantages because they're powerful. due to the power this means you can control the lights. you can use umbrellas and soft boxes to diffuse the light and also soften shadows.moreover flash can freeze the action and give you the depth of field you need.

Meeting Anna Smith
As part of Media , today we went on a trip to regents street cinema. We were given the opportunity to have a talk with Anna Smith. She gave us advise on music journalism but she never enjoyed it so she moved onto film. She told us a bit about her and approximately how many films she has watched in a year , which were quite a few. The regent street cinema is one of the oldest and I like how they haven't changed it .

EVALUATION DRAFT
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music magazine develops and challenges real media products in many ways. I designed the name ‘vanish’ for my masthead on Photoshop first but I didn't like the way it looked so went on InDesign and started all over,I have not used font that many magazines use which in my opinion is big and in some cases bubble. due to my cover being simple i didn't go over board with my masthead even though it is very recognisable. I used a profession camera to get some high quality photos and used one of them for my front magazine cover, this is what someone working in the magazine industry would have done. For my contents page I have developed what a profession magazine will look like because i has more than one image and everything is so clear, my contents page isn't packed because i insured everything has been summarised.finally my double page spread i can say is challenging because i used two different images of the artist in two different styles which in a real media product there will usually only be one main image.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My magazine will be distributed through social media such as YouTube adverts, this will work because my magazine will only come up if the audience is about to watch an indie rock song or pop, if it's other music genres my magazine advert will not come up . My magazine will be distributed in the UK

My couple page spread interview plan.
Interviewer-We are here today with of
course the one and only Miss Black, nice to see you here I have a few questions
to ask you.
Zara
Black - Hello good to see you too, go ahead.
Interviewer- What feeling would you like your
fans to feel?
Zara
Black-I want them to see and hear my music and smile with tears streaming down
their face.
Interviewer-Does it bother you if a fan
sees you at your worst?
Zara
black-no not at all id like it if they even made fun of me like they do with
their best friends.
Interviewer-Do you ever feel like you have
to put on an act to be seen a different way?
Zara
Black-No because people fall in love with an artist’s personality and if I act
it will come out sooner or later. You cry because you’re so proud of them and
sometimes they are the reason you know your best friend.
Interview-What ONE message would you tell
every young artist hoping to make it big?
Zara
Black- Well music becomes very personal when you emotionally connect with a
message you want to send out into the world. All of a sudden you have a very
strong way of delivering your message. NEVER GIVE UP. I want to inspire people
because I myself was in the same boat, you have to do is stay focused stay
positive and stay strong because nothing and I repeat nothing is impossible.
Interviewer: Is your family musical?
Zara
Black: No not everyone they certainly enjoy listening to music but none are
passionate about making their own song.
Interviewer: Oh that’s interesting, so
which music artists do you admire?
Zara
Black: I have always loved Nancy Blue I think she’s just simply unique and her
songs are beautiful, also Lana Del Rey because I feel her lyrics have so much
meaning and she always sings with passion.
Interviewer: Do you perform in public?
Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV?
Zara
Black: Yeah I perform sometimes in public or when we have a family gathering I
sing, my family love it and it boosts my confidence even more…. I’ve been on
BBC radio before but that was a one-time offer.
Interviewer: How do you balance your music
with other obligations - mate and job?
Zara
Black: Well it probably does seem difficult but you just have stay organised.
So for me I have a timetable and each day I have something to do , usually my
Saturdays consist of me being in the studio and Sundays I like to spend time
with my friends and family … it’s not hard just don’t leave things till last
minute.
Interviewer: It was great seeing Zara
Black today, to listen to her new album “HEAT” before its official release sign
in at WWW.BLACKSWAN.COM..

These are my contents pages before I did any final adjustments. On the first one I had done my own animations using in design. the drawing on the earphones and guitar didn't look good as my aim was to have a more profession looking contents page but the drawings looked more childish so I took them away. on the screen shot below it shows where I had removed the drawings, but I kept the music notes where my information will go , I also added an image which represented the graffiti music inspired.Monday, 30 November 2015
